Another year has come and gone.
While most would agree that 2016 was one of the most ‘eventful’ years of the 21st century, we will try to review it with a focus on what we have accomplished as a community.
We turn back the time to spring of 2016, with the ice skating training continuing on from the previous year, we were fortunate enough to have the sens rink open well past February – just enough time for the skaters to test their newly learnt skills.
Later that summer, the BCA partnered with the City of Ottawa to introduce the Ottawa Futsal Program. over 20 kids of different ages participated in the training that was held in the sens rink and coached by Jeff along with our youth volunteers.
The Bayshore Public School held its 50th anniversary this year as well. The School has served this community for half a century and has become a staple of many childhood memories for Ottawans.
BCA partnered with the Royal Canadian Circus and assisted in selling the tickets to local residents. While the entire event was spectacular the final act was heart pumping to say the least. Definitely worth going to again.
Last year there was the bike rodeo, this year we partnered with the City of Ottawa and got together volunteer bike technicians to teach the community simple bike repair skills while repairing bikes.
By now this has become an annual tradition. The BCA held the Sports Festival, an event for the whole family. Soccer, cricket, futsal, bouncy castles and more. We managed to link up with the University of Ottawa’s Centre for Global and Community Engagement and got volunteers to help us out. Thank you to all the volunteers who participated in making this event a success.
We know we can strive for greater heights and out do ourselves each year but for that to happen we need community residents to join us. Please send us an email and join our team.
